American singer/actress, Mary J Blige has been ordered to pay $30,000 a month in spousal support to her estranged husband Martin “Kendu” Isaacs as part of divorce proceedings.
The bright side is that Isaacs had initially asked for nearly $130,000 a month in spousal support, a figure Blige and her lawyers strongly opposed. TMZ reports that “the court found Martin was entitled to some dough to accommodate the standard of living he was used to while married to Mary, but also decided his dream number was unreasonable.”
In court papers, Blige accused Isaacs of spending her money on travel and other expenses for his girlfriend. The spousal support is labeled as temporary.
“You know, he has the power to make it all go away, if he just would stop demanding what he’s demanding,”
“And that’s not fair to me because he doesn’t deserve what he’s demanding. It’s not fair. Why do I have to pay you? And why do you think you deserve this amount of money? Why do you think you deserve any money? You didn’t make me. You’re not God. So I have to pay you for being my husband and for being my manager?” Blige said during a sit-down with Angie Martinez in March for her album Strength of a Woman,
